A state-of-charge meter is the difference between guessing your remaining runtime and knowing it. Shunt-based coulomb counters measure current in and out of the pack to report true remaining capacity in amp-hours and percentage, which voltage-only gauges cannot do accurately on LiFePO4 because of its flat discharge curve.
